General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* Whether fever is present with rigors or not may be key findings in concern of possible malaria condition. In absence of rigors, a bacterial or viral infection of the respiratory or GI tract can be considered as a common cause.

* As you have started ceftriaxone antibiotic, wait for further 24 hours period, if later fever cyclic trend persists, a consultation with his pediatrician would be best-needed condition to diagnose further and care accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
