Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a small mass in one of my breasts since age 18. I m now 56. I ve noticed over the past few months the nipple on that breasts very inverted now. Is this a cause for concern? No pain. Been getting mamos regularly to watch small mass, been no change in it.
The presence of an inverted nipple that was not previously inverted is usually due to scarring within the breast. Some benign conditions can cause that, but cancer can do the same thing. Therefore, despite the regularly reassuring mammograms, in my practice, I would advise you to get an ultrasound-guided biopsy of the breast lump to make sure it is nothing to worry about. If it is something to worry about, getting a definitive diagnosis early on is always better.
All the best!
