Suggest Treatment For Iritis

Hi Dr. I suffer from iritis. Last week I had a mild flare up in my right eye. Went to my GP. Prescribed maxitrol eye drops and also awaiting consult with specialist. not a great improvement but not too bad. Usually I am prescribed maxidex eyedrops and pupil dilators. Is maxidex stronger? Thanks so much

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello
It seems from the history that you are diagnosed with iritis. Iritis is inflammation of the iris and is treated by use of steroids and dilating eye drops.
The treatment prescribed by your general practitioner is in right direction and you can continue it. If the attacks of iritis are recurrent it requires evaluation to find out the underlying cause by systemic evaluation.
Hence you can continue the eye drops and do consult your ophthalmologist for further evaluation and treatment accordingly.

Thank you
