Suggest Treatment For Iron Deficiency Anemia Causing Dizziness And Headaches
Hello my name is heidy and i am 24 years old when i was a baby (3 months old) i was diagnose with plastic anemia and now i am experiencing the symptoms of iron deficiency anemia, i am always tired, dizzy, headache, hard to breath sometimes. My question is, is it possible that my previous ilness will be the cause of having a iron deficiency anemia, and what will i do to prevent this?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Aplastic anemia is caused due to inability of bone marrow to produce blood cells. Aplastic anemia is a very serious condition with bone marrow transplantation as the definitive treatment. Iron deficiency anemia is accompanied by fatigue, tiredness, lack of concentration, dyspnea or difficulty in breathing. Iron deficiency anemia is treated with iron supplementation. However, aplastic anemia superimposed by iron deficiency is rare since, red blood cell production is very low in aplastic anemia. I suggest you to consult a hematologist for assessment and to review your previous reports suggesting aplastic anemia. Iron deficiency can be treated with iron supplements but aplastic anemia is difficult to treat and requires bone marrow transplantation.
