Suggest Treatment For Irregular Ans Slow Bowel Movement
I m an older guy having had difficulty with regularity and have been using fiber support like citracel. Recently I ve had a lot of gas and soft snail like bowel movements and found some in my shorts without being aware. This is new for me to have this happen much more for the experience to continue. I m a Vet and will get home for a doctor s appointment in a few weeks. Otherwise in good shape. Wondering if I have a tape worm or what I might do about this now. Thanks for any help you might give. Sincerely, jim
A tape worm or other parasite can sometimes be seen in the stool so you can take a look to see if anything can be identified. A stool sample to the lab is needed to determine if this is present, if it is then you would need to take anti parasitic medication.
In terms of the irregular movements, you should : (1) continue the citrucel or any other source of supplemental fiber (2)increase dietary fiber otherwise with fruits, vegetables and whole grain foods (3)make sure to use enough fluids not including any caffeinated drinks or alcohol since these cause the body to lose fluids (4)physical activity if possible would also help
I hope this helps
