Suggest Treatment For Irregular Heart Beat, High Pulse Rate And Low BP
I have been having my blood pressure taken at work by a Blue Cross nurse. It is part of their preventative health care progrm. For the last two check-ups (IE 5-4-15 and today) they told me I have an irregular heart beat and a high pulse rate. My blood pressure is fine. I have been really tire lately also. My heart rate has been 100 and now 104. My blood pressure is 114/81. They told me to contact my doctor. Should I be worried
Seeing your doctor does seem like an appropriate next step. To verify that your heartbeat is truly irregular, an EKG or Holter Monitor can be ordered. This will look at your heart rhythm in detail.
The blood pressure of 114/81 is not necessarily low. If you don't have lightheadedness, it should be a fine blood pressure.
An irregular heartbeat can be dangerous as it may be due to a problem in the electrical conduction of the heart.
That is why seeing your doctor is a good next step to verify if anything is wrong. Some cases of "irregular heartbeat" are actually normal and just interpreted as being irregular.
Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Timothy Wong
