General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The heavy menses with back ache are related to underlying hormone disturbances causing uterine wall changes and low hemoglobin from excess menses. Initial management of heavy menses is hormone treatment with norethisterone, dicyclomine or drotaverine for back ache and iron preparations for prevention of possible anemia. The cases not responding to hormone therapy may require dilatation and curettage or endometrial ablation of bleeders to control the bleeding of excess amount.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
