Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hey, My name is risper from Kenya. I have a problem with my periods. They are so irregular. They were not there for five months and now that they have resumed its non-stop. This is my second week but its not a heavy flow. This is not something new it has happened before. Please help me.
To treat irregular periods you are suggested to take Regesterone (5mg, for 10 days). It should get reduced. Progesterone and Tranexamic acid are equally effective. However you should get clinically examined by a gynecologist to detect any hormonal problems, PCOS, thyroid issues, obesity, etc.
You will have to get a few tests and investigations done. You will be treated according to the pathology that is detected and the severity of symptoms. You are recommended to take food rich in protein, calcium and iron. Maintain healthy BMI and do regular exercises.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
