Hello,
This time of life, a girl is characterized by immense
hormonal changes. 75% of girls experience some problems associated with
menstruation.
Lifestyle modifications like regular physical activity, decreasing the intake of junk food and promoting healthy eating habits should be emphasised to improve their menstrual health.
In this age, this menstrual irregularities are normal. With the age, it will going to be get corrected (within few months or few more cycles).
But for
bloating, please tell your daughter to follow these:
1. Drink lots of water all through the day.
2. Limit the intake of salt in your diet. Reduce your consumption of processed and junk foods that have a high amount of salt.
3. Try eating a low-FODMAP diet (FODMAP is for fermentable oligo-, di-, monosaccharides and polyols). FODMAPs are indigestible carbohydrates that trigger digestive symptoms such as bloating, stomach pain and gas. Avoiding high-FODMAP foods such as wheat, onions, broccoli, garlic, cauliflower, cabbage, artichokes, apples, beans, watermelon, and pears may help in preventing bloating during ovulation.
4. Taking a
magnesium supplement may help with the symptom of bloating. However, you need to check magnesium level you do so.
Also give her enough NSAIDs (for abdominal cramping) and sanitary napkins for the trip. Also tell her not to have too many NSAID in one day.
Later, when she will come back, she can have detailed physical consultation with a gynaecologist. But in this case, medicine is not required and should not given. In this time, she will face a little irregularities because, her periods are starting and so do hormones secretions. With the age, this will resolve. Too problematic, take consultation and may be USG lower abdomen suggested.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
