Suggest Treatment For Irregular Periods And PCOD

Hello Doctor, I have a history of PCOD with heavy and irregular periods but my latest reports are said to be positive. Currently i m adviced to continue Chromiac A and Glucophage. Last 3 months menstrual cycle has been quite normal. (Jan 31st, Mar 4th, April 1st, April 25th). I m 31 yrs old and yet to conceive. I have a religious ceremony to attend on 24th may and wish to postpone my periods with Primolut N. Although i have used it few years ago i preferred to re-confirm if i could use it now given my history with pcod. Kindly advice if it is ok and how many days prior to expected date can it be taken to postpone the cycle?

Hello,

From the question, i understand that your irregular periods and PCOD are now controlled and are not bothering you anymore. You want to postpone your periods with Primolut N. People come to my clinic for the same postponement of periods. My advice is as follows:
1) Primolut N contains 5mg of Norethisterone.
2) The dosage is 1 tablet of Primolut N three times daily, starting 3 days before the expected onset of menstruation and continuing for not longer than 10 to 14 days. A normal period should occur 2-3 days after the patient has stopped taking tablets.
3) This method should be restricted to users who are not at risk of pregnancy during the treatment cycle.
4) You can continue taking chrominac A and glucophage as usual.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
