General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As your wife must be breast feeding the baby of 6 months, it is obvious to have irregular periods for sure due to hormone level alteration during this period. Conventionally birth control pills are not recommended on medical grounds to avoid side effects in the baby who is breast feeding.

Kindly discuss the use of the same at this time period with her OBGYN and opt for other options of contraception as copper T or condoms for best results and avoid any inadverent harm to baby.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
