Suggest Treatment For Itching And Irritation On The Buttocks

Hello Dr. I have had a itchy behind that sweats profusively throughout the day and smells horrible when i use the bathroom and i wipe back there. My skin on my buttcrack tends to irritate easily. I have seen dermatologists who diagnose it as eczema but I still have doubts since this has gone for 3 years. It is very embarrassing and extremely itchy. I have used fungal creams, eczema creams and betadine to reduce the smell. What do you recommend?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query . I understand your concern.
The rash on buttocks you have can be
- Allergy to the sweat / clothing material.
- sweat & thick clothing.. cause damp skin. which can easily fall pray to fungal infection.
for management you need to-
- reduce effect of sweat on body by- taking bath with cold water at least twice ( or more)times a day./ change the undergarments every time( cotton & loose fitting ones are preferred)/ use of sweat proof sunscreen or antiperspirants would help. Actually thin , loose fitting clothing would be preferred.
- Local steroid skin ointment( slight amount applied & spread over the buttocks after each bath would help allergic skin itching.
* If local cremes do not help... you need to consult a dermatologist for oral anti fungal drugs/ oral anti allergic drug.
Thanks.
