Suggest Treatment For Itching And Redness Caused By Acne
The doctor of my daughter prescribed her adapalene cram for her acne and ketoconazole creme for local treatment of areas she had itch. The redness area that also itches is not clearing - it gets less but then appears again and even on larger than previously area. She is straggling now for long time with this and we visited her dermatologist 3 times and still no remedy. I am getting worried that the doctor miss-diagnosed the rush. I am wondering is it possible to use clotrimazole instead of the ketoconazole?
Based on the history you have shared, if clotrimazole is not working properly, then for itching and rash on the other areas, teranffin lotion can be used along with oral antihistamines like Cetrizine or Loratidine.
For the acne, Doxycycline orally if not planning to conceive, and topical lotions containing Doxycycline can be effective.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
