Suggest Treatment For Itching And Swelling On Hand

I was stung by a wasp (hornet, yellow jacket?) yesterday afternoon on my right hand. The place of the stinger penetration was sore yesterday evening but is not long so. However, my hand started itching last evening and is somewhat swollen and has continued to itch all day today. I have put cold compresses on it hand and a benedrill based cream but it is still very itchy and swollen. Anything else that I should do? Thanks, Norm

General & Family Physician 's  Response
A sting or bite of wasp injects venom composed of proteins and other substances that may trigger an allergic reaction. The sting also causes redness and swelling at the site of the sting.
1.     Cold compress with ice pack 5 – 6 times daily
2.     Stop applying Benedril cream
3.     Do not scratch the area as it will cause skin damage and infection
4.     You can apply calamine lotion for itching
5.     Levocetrizine 5 mg per oral once daily for 5 days
6.     Dexamethasone 0.5 mg twice daily per oral for 7 days
7.     Ibuprofen 600 mg thrice daily if pain occurs. Otherwise avoid it
Thanks
