Suggest Treatment For Itching In The Groin Area

My wife and I are experiencing weird symptoms.thrush , itchy penis , itchy vagina (ongoing). I being the husband got tested for chlamidia, ghonnerea, hiv and syphilis with negative results. I ve had my symptoms of a sore head of penis for 3-4 years with only one doctor recently saying he thinks I have candida. It seems that when my symptoms go my wife gets them and then it bounces back. Can hiv tests be false negative? . We are confused and frustrated. I have been saying I have candida for years but in Australia doctors laugh at you if you mention it ( apart from the one I have just seen). Can it get that bad that it s hard to fix? Anyway I have soo much to say, cheers josh

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM.
I understand your concern.
It is less likely to be HIV as you don't have any other health complaint. So you need not worry on that aspect.
It seems that you have genital candidiasis also called as thrush as you mentioned.
If I were your treating doctor,I would recommend
---local application of fluconazole containing ointment
-one 150 mg tablet of fluconazole weekly for 6 months, but since this is a prescription tablet, you need to get a physician 's prescription for it.
-use condom while having sexual intercourse
-maintain hygiene, wear clean and dry undergarments and avoid using synthetic material inner wears
-simultaneous treatment of your partner is also important, since this infection can be transmitted sexually.
If still there is no improvement after this steps, certain investigations need to be done like blood tests, urethral discharge tests to rule out the causative infecting organism.
Hope this helps.
Thanks.
