Suggest Treatment For Itching On The Scalp With Dandruff While Having Seborrhoeic Dermatitis

Hello doctor, I went to a skin specialist and he told me I have seborrhoeic dermatitis. If I scratch my scalp there is a lot of dandruff that comes out,but my scalp is not itchy. I m just losing a lot of hair. When I checked my hair strand, I could see that dandruff was stuck on the bulb of the hair. I have tried all the possible anti dandruff shampoos, creams and lotions the doctors had prescribed. But nothing has helped. Please help!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

Seborrheic dermatitis is a superficial fungal disease.

Treatment for seborrheic dermatitis focuses on reducing inflammation and swelling, and curbing itch.

In mild cases, a topical antifungal cream such as ketoconazole may be enough to control symptoms.

I also suggest using Cetirizine 10 mg to relieve the itching.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
