Suggest Treatment For Itching Sensation On The Elbow
I have scleroderma my elbow was itching. It got infected and was leaking pus. My dr gave me an antibiotic. I took it my arm got like 70 % better looking but I ve had pain and clear stuff leaking from it for 4 months. It will stop leaking for a day or 2 then start leaking again but I can t handle the pain anymore. I went to the hospital to get a different antibiotic to see if that would help but it doesn t seem to be working. I ve been resting a lot , elevating my elbow, and using heat. Any advice
If I have had a patient with similar complaints I would have examined for any underlying bone infection and done culture and sensitivity (C/S) testing of the discharge. You should get evaluated by an orthopedician to check if your skin infection has spread to the bones in elbow region.
Your doctor might ask for an x-ray of the elbow and C/S testing of the discharge and may prescribe antibiotic(s) course. Please strictly stick to the dose and duration of the medications. Also use some emollients for your itchy lesions.
Hope I have clarified your doubts. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further doubts.
Regards, Dr. Muralidhar Naiduk
