Suggest Treatment For Itchy And Painful Insect Bites Apart From Lidex
This past month or more I have had multiple insect bites. More bites than I have ever had b 4 . They r quite inflamed, itchy, painful, etc. Usually Lidex takes care of them but now of little effect. Do u recommend anything else? I am not sure if spider, mosquito or flea. I get these bites in my house. I am outside very little & avoid dawn & dusk l have Crohns disease on humorous methotrexate 4 RA.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have itchy and painful insect bites which seems you develop allergic reaction due to insect bites. I would suggest you to apply ice pack for 10 mins and apply calamine lotion to soothe the skin. Use products containing ingredients such as hydrocortisone, pramoxine or lidocaine to help control pain and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain and swelling. If condition doesn't get improve or get worse then consult dermatologist for proper examination. Doctor may prescribe anti histamine drug or antibiotics for 4-5 days. You can also be given a steroid injection for faster relief.
Hope your concern has been resolved. Dr. Harry Maheshwari
