Suggest Treatment For Itchy Bumps On Chest, Arms, Stomach And Back

I got one itchy bump on my chest a couple of weeks ago and a few days later, I got a few more on my chest, then arms and now stomach and back. The older ones are still there. They are itchy and pimple like. I was very congested for a few days, with a bit of a sore throat, flem, and cough, that I assumed was seasonal allergies, but that has now gotten better. I don t know if it was connected. I don t know what it is, but the bumps are spreading. Thanks for the help.

Hello,

You have bumps all over the body and they are spreading and itching. You are suggested to take care of your hygiene. Take regular bath. Wear soft cotton clothes. Do not share your toiletries with anyone. Cool compression may help. Staying in a cool room or wearing loose-fitting clothes can also help. You can also apply a moisturizer, corticosteroid cream or calamine lotion for relief.

You are advised to avoid scratching as this may lead to bacterial infections and spread. You can take non sedating antihistamine for relieve. Apply hydrocortisone ointment on the affected area, it will reduce itching. If it is resistant, you will be prescribed a course of corticosteroid. Get clinically examined by a dermatologist.

Get STD tests done to rule out any sexually transmitted disease. If positive you will be treated with antivirals. Severe hives or angioedema outbreaks are commonly treated with epinephrine injections and cortisone medications. Stay away from addictions if any. Avoid any sexual activity while you are being treated.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
