Suggest Treatment For Itchy Rash On Side Of Labia

I have and itch rash on the right side of my labia(?) started off as a little dry patch kinda like eczema(which I have) just looks like dry skin. I have very sensitive skin. It wasn t too bad until I shaved and it made it itch like crazy. Haven t shaved since but I was scratching and it made it so dry the skin started peeling. Not sure what it is but I just started putting nesporin eczema cream on it for moisturizer. No puss or sores present and it doesn t really hurt. Looks like it s slowly getting better but it s taking a while. I m scared it was herpes or something. Please help

Hello,

Your symptoms of dry, scaly itch is indicative of Jock itch (Tinea Cruris), a fungal infection that occurs in warm moist area of the groin. The rash can spread from a person to person with skin contact or from sharing contaminated towels or clothing. You can also spread an infection from the foot to groin by way of the hands or a towel.

Take care of your hygiene and wash your private area regularly. Take bath regularly. Do not share your toiletries. You can apply ointment containing clotrimazole or miconazole on the affected area. Taking a course of fluconazole orally will help to clear the infection faster. However, you are instructed to get STD tests done. If STIs are detected then it will be treated with antibiotics/antivirals. Avoid any sexual activity till the infection is active.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
