Suggest Treatment For Itchy Rashes On Neck And Scalp

Since purchasing our puppy, a dachshund, a little over a year ago, I ve been experiencing itchy small rashes, especially on my neck and scalp, and it s getting worse. Should I see a dermatologist? It just occurred to me that it may be our pet. I ve pretty much eliminated all else.

Hi,

Understanding your concern. Itchy rashes on neck and scalp seems to be due to contact dermatitis, eczema , and could be bug bites. I would suggest you to:
- Apply cold compresses to rashes
- Maintain cleanliness of head and neck area
- Avoid eating hot, sharp and spicy food
- Take benadryl twice a day and avoid dry environment.

You should consult allergy specialist for proper examination. Doctor may order allergy test, blood test for IgE antibodies and physical examination. Doctor may prescribe anti allergic medicine, corticosteroid ointment and anti inflammatory medications.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
