Hello, A few days ago a couple of red spots w vesicles appeared on my right arm. I thought they were ant bites but many more appeared later. I had Shingles on the right side of my face four years ago. This does not feel like Shingles because there is no pain involved. I don t remember touching poison ivy but it could be possible since I was gardening a few days before the rash appeared. The rash does itch, but not severe. I know Shingles appear only on one side of the body. Most of the rash is on the right side of my body but there is one spot to the right of my left breast. Please help!! Thank you, Lan
Since you were gardening, it can be due to some allergy. You should take regular bath with a medicated soap and avoid applying harsh body products. Wear soft cotton clothes. You can take antihistamines at bed time to reduce symptoms of allergy.
However, you are suggested to consult a dermatologist. Your symptoms can be suggestive of Shingles, get repeat tests done. If the report is positive for shingles, you will be treated with antibiotics / antivirals, analgesics, etc. Stay away from addictions if any for the best efficacy of the medicines.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
