I have a rash over my arms and back of my neck from me using a perm that was too strong for me, and I can t get rid of the itch. I have scrathed my scalp so much and used so many different shampoos and medicines to get rid of the itch ,but it won t go away, now my scalp is sore from scrathing it. Is ther anything I can use for comfort? The last thing I used was Desonide lotion, but it has not helped.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Your history suggests that you have developed a rash on arms, back and neck and there is intense itching on scalp. Intense itching on scalp and rash on other parts on body suggest an allergic reaction. However, local causes cannot be ruled out. Itching on scalp can be due to seborrhea, lice infestation, fungal infection to name a few causes. A clinical assessment of scalp is required to determine the cause of itching and plan management further. The rash appears to be due to an allergic reaction since you have mentioned that it developed after using perm. Clinical assessment of the rash is also required for planning management.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
