Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been having lip sores that itch and tingle that have not gone away with Abreva, camphor or any other cold sore typr topical treatments. My husband was diagnosed yesterday with prostatitis and started on a long term regime of Cipro. He does not show any signs of genital sores or infection. Could the sores on my lips be from his prostatitis? If so, what would be the best and quickest treatment?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain tingling and itchy sores over your lips does not seems to be due to your husband's illness of Prostatitis but can be either due to allergic reaction to any lip cosmetics, any food or medicine.. It can also be due to Viral infection causing Cold Sores as similar symptoms appears in Herpes.. But any confirmed diagnosis can be given only after a clinical evaluation and investigations if needed..
As of now you can take anti-allergics like Levocetrizine, apply Calamine lotion over lips and do cold compresses. Once diagnosis is confirmed a proper treatment can be given..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
