Suggest Treatment For Joint Pain Due To Ankylosing Spondylitis Other Than Pain Killers

Hello Doctor.............My dad has been suffering from ankylosis spondilisis for 25 years. His age is now 54.Now his heap joint is become stiff and he is having problem for easy movement.Sometimes his pain becomes unbearable.Recently he was caught an accident and for that reason his pain is become higher. We have consulted a orthopedic and he suggested for digital x-ray.We have done the x-ray and the report says that there is no such of fracture or dislocation of bone.....but as becoz he already has a very old case that s why the bone density is reduced, ossification of anterior and posterior longitudinal ligaments and both sacro-iliac ligaments are noted, erosions and subarticular sclerosis of both hip joints are noted and sclerosis of both SI joints are noted. My dad took diaclomol for many years to take relief from pain. But now doctor told him to stop taking that medicine and now he is taking etoshine 120 and the doctor suggested to take sazo 1000 only and stop etoshine 120 some days later. But my dad is become afraid of stopping painkiller................becoz he is a service man and only pain killer can help him to move. Now can u suggest what we will do so that my dad can get relief from his pain? And one more question is,Is there any sort of chance for bed-ridden in near future?
