Suggest Treatment For Joint Pain In The Shoulders, Elbows, Wrists And Fingers

I have been having extreme joint pain (primarily in my shoulders, elbows, wrists and fingers) for the past 10 days. In addition, I have an itchy, raised rash across my midsection which started at the same time. The Pain is slightly diminished by taking 800mg of Ibuprofen every six hours. I am a 63 year ols, white, female. I suvived breast cancer 10 years ago and had an auto-immune liver inflammation (treated with 3 months of Imuran) over a year ago.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Due to your history of an autoimmune condition recently and actual joint pains and skin rash, an autoimmune condition should be considered as the cause of your actual symptoms and examinations for these should be done.

Your doctor may do some blood tests to identify antibodies or factors whose blood levels increase in certain immune conditions.

I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
