Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
HI, I am having a keloid on my chest from few years. Upto now there was no pain into that. Before 3-4 days, it started paining and getting poped out. it is now more than double in size then it was before 3-4 days. I am planning to remove this with laser. i heard of ultra sound surgery also but not able to find in bangalore. Can you please suggest me something for this ?
Laser surgery and cryosurgery are two types of surgery used for treatment of keloid scar. Laser surgery is a method where high beam of light is directed towards the area of keloid scar and surrounding skin to resurface it and look it as more smooth and appear more toned. However, it can make your keloid worse by increasing scaring and redness.
Cryosurgery or cryotherapy is a more effective and accepted method where, keloid is frozen with liquid nitrogen. A course of corticosteroid injection can be given in the keloid after surgery to minimize the chances of recurrence.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Satnarain Bansal, General & Family Physician
