Suggest Treatment For Kidney Stones, Fever And Chills
I passed a kidney stone last Thursday at home. Afterwards developed fever, chills, and doctor called in prescription for Bactrim 500mg. Was still having fever so did urine test but it showed no infection just blood in urine. So had CT scan this morning. Now perscribed to continue Bactrim and another one --metronidazole 500mg. Never got a call from the doctor--just the pharmacy. I m a fairly healthy 64 yo woman. What the heck do I have and do I take both antibiotics? I ve never taken 2 antibiotics together, it s scaring me, plus I m afraid of side effects--headache and nausea. I actually have no fever now. So do I start this second antibiotic?
The picture you describe is suggestive of urinary tract infection. If you have already taken antibiotics before the the urine analysis, it may not show infection.
Each group of bacteria is sensitive to a certain type of antibiotics. Metronidazole is for the so called anaeorbic bacteria. Describing two types of antibiotics is to cover the broadest spectrum.
We cannot prescribe antibiotics over the internet without proper physical examinations and tests. Abuse of antibiotics may develop serious problems to you and to the community like developing resistant organisms.
