Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have kidney stone s in my bladder. The doctor tried blasting them but it took him two hours to Break up one. He said if I do not have any pain, we could leave them alone. On two recent occasions, my urine was very dark after walking a half mile. It cleared up upon the next urination. I do have some pain in my upper back. I also have a small cyst on my kidney. Should I be more aggressive in treating this?
As per my surgical experience, the management of kidney stones depend upon its size, location in kidney, status of kidney and symptoms with patient concern.
A small stone of 2-3 mm passes with plenty of liquids. Medium size stone of 5-7 mm require medications and sometimes flush therapy. Larger stones of 8-10 mm or above with obstruction to the urinary system require lithotripsy (intra or extra corporeal), PCNL , RIRS or other procedures to clear the same.
Here no reports are available and hence further comments would be difficult and irrelevant.
Hope my answer was helpful. If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.
Take care.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
