HI I WAS ADMITTED TO HOSPITAL LAST WEDNESDAY WITH SEVERE PAIN AND AFTER A SCAN I WAS TOLD I HAD A STONE THAT HAD GONE THROUGH URETHRA TUBE AND ANOTHER LODGED IN LOWER RIGHT KIDNEY...TO EASE THE PAIN I WAS GIVEN: 2 IBOBRUFREN &2 PARACETAMOL...AFTER 1 HOUR I WAS GIVEN 2 CODEIN AND 2 BUSCOPAN AGAIN AFTER ONE HOUR I WAS GIVEN 5ML OF ORAMORPH ...I WAS THEN LEFT TO GO HOME...I AM STILL IN PAIN (WITH RIGHT LOWER ABDOMIN PAIN) I WOULD SAY ON A SCALE TO 10 ITS ABOUT 7/8 BUT I ALSO HAVE BLACK TARRY STOOLS SINCE LEAVIING HOSPITAL...IS THIS NORMAL?
Hi, Thanks for writing in HCM. After going through the description, what treatment has been instituted for kidney stones is only conservative line. Hence it will not cure you permanently. For that you need to consult Urologist and undergo 'lithotripsy'. Lithotripsy is a procedure that uses shock waves to break up stones in the kidney, ureter or bladder. After the procedure, the tiny pieces of stones pass out of your body in your urine. Wish you speedy recovery and good health.
