Suggest Treatment For Knee Pain And Swelling After An Injury

Hello, I`m a sixty-one year old caucasion female. about 3 weeks ago I tripped and landed hard on my left side. my knee hurt the worst, but, I could stand and walk okay. for the couple of days I wore a brace , but when I took it off I noticed that my knee was swollen on the outside of my kneecap. The brace started to feel really tight and uncomfortable so I switched to ace bandages. This afternoon I noticed a cold feeling in my foot and when I took my slipper off my foot was swollen up and it felt like it would burst. I have been staying off of it as much as possible, used a ice pack, but nothing has changed. What kind of doctor should I see? do I need to go to the E.R?
