Suggest Treatment For Large Lump On The Forehead Post Injury
I walked into a glass door and have a large lump on my upper forehead toward the right side of the forehead about an hour ago and did not lose consciousness and have been icing it. I am an extremely healthy and fit 73 year old. I have no pain except a bit of soreness on my forehead and am more scared than anything else. I got up within a minute or two after it happened to be cautious. The skin did not break. I will obviously rest the rest of the day as a precaution. The swelling has gone a bit Am I doing what I need to do?
Due to hitting with the glass door along with hard lump seems to be due to hematoma formation and it occurs due to rupture of blood vessels and accumulation of blood in the soft tissues. Hematoma is a harmless tumor like mass formed due to spillage of blood from ruptured blood vessels leading to accumulation of blood into the soft tissues forming a lump. Pain and soreness is due to inflamed tissues only. I would suggest you to do cool compresses over the area.
You can take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen. Apply Heparin gel as it will help in resolving the lump soon. In case of no improvement in a week consult a physician and get evaluated.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Honey Arora
