Suggest Treatment For Large Painful Bump On The Buttcok
I got a scar 3.5 years ago on my buttock. It s always been slightly raised and purple. Two days ago, a fairly large purple/red bump that was somewhat sore if much pressure was applied appeared. Today, it started to bleed - it may not have been spontaneous, my waistband may have rubbed against it and broke the skin. I initially thought it might be a boil, but now I m not really sure. I ve bandaged it with some antibacterial ointment but I m not sure if it s something to be concerned about. Advice would be appreciated!

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have large painful bump on the buttock . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query infection , hematoma , abscess , sebaceous cyst , lipoma or boil . I would suggest you to consult dermatologist for proper examination . Doctor may examine physically , order blood test or take sample for lap test . Doctor may surgically drain it , perform liposuction in case of lipoma , prescribe antibiotics like clarithromycin along with coticosteroid ointment .For now keep it clean and dry , drink plenty of water and apply cold compresses on it thrice a day . Wear loose cloths and apply over the counter anti inflammatory and antibiotics ointment .
