Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had my C4 through C7 fused with hardware and a new MRI approx. 5 months ago showed a bulge in the area above the last surgical site (c3/c4) and I am seeing a Pain Management Doctor trying to avoid surgery. I have had two cervical epidurals which did nothing and am taking gabapentin and baclophen. The Dr. has asks about issues with stopping/starting urination or bowel movements. Over the last couple of weeks I have noticed when I urinate, wipe and stand there is urine that runs down my leg. Not a lot, the first time or two I thought maybe I just had not used enough toilet paper or something. It happened again just a bit ago and seemed like more urine and I am unsure if this was what the Dr. was talking about when he mentioned the difficulty stopping/starting urinating.
Urinary incontinence is the condition in which the individual not able to control the urine output. There are several cause for urinary incontinence in men. In normal individuals, the urine output is proper only when there is necessary control of the pelvic floor muscles by the brain through the nerves. When there is disruption in any one thing, there is urinary incontinence. Prostate enlargement is the common cause for urinary incontinence in men over 40 years of age.
After dribble is a type of incontinence where there is dribbling at the end of stream or after completing. Common cause is prostate enlargement or weak pelvic floor muscles. Spinal cord compression can cause paresis or paralysis of the parts that they are supplying. The level of involvement may be at the particular level of spinal cord damage or completely at and below the level of compression.
