Suggest Treatment For Left Ear Blockage And Pain In Asthma Patient

I have been suffering from a left ear blockage which I suspect happened due to congestion. I consulted a physician two days back. He prescribed me with moxclav 625mg, with a pain reliving tablet and ear drop. It is important that I am an asthma patient from past 8 years but I never suffered from an ear blockage.Whenever I take ear drops, pain starts increasing within few hours and lingers over a long time. Is there a remedy to such a solution. Moreover, he has prescribed me these medicines for 5 days.

Hello,
I had gone through your query and understand your concern.

Short answer: You have to take those medications for 5 days.

Detailed answer:
Thank you for asking.

Based on your medical history I'm suspecting either an infection of middle ear or accumulated wax.

In both cases there will be blockage of ear. But presence of pain is suggestive of an infection. Even accumulated wax leads to infection sometimes.

Your doctor has prescribed an Antibiotic which has to be taken for 5 days. You should not stop antibiotics in between. I don't see any relation between applying ear drop and increase in pain. Also these medications will not affect Asthma in anyway.

I suggest you to continue these medication. I'm off the opinion that your symptoms will come down. Inhale steam. It helps to clear the block.

Hope this helps.

If you have any other queries, feel free to ask.

Regards,
Dr Prathap kumar
