Suggest Treatment For Left Knee Pain While On Hydrocodone
After 4 surgeries and 5 total knee replacements, workman s comp does not want to continue my pain meds, hydrocodone. They want to give me anti-depressants. They have stopped my prescriptions even though they stated it is bad to do so. After looking on-line I see that is true of anti-depressants as well. They are not consistent in filling my scripts so I am concerned about switching. My left knee pain is the worst at this time, at times 9/10 and my right knee is better now but is still 6/10 at times. I cannot complete daily activities without meds. I would like another opinion!
Hydrocodone is strong opioid and should be used for severe pain if needed. However, pain management should be done very carefully. Sometimes antidepressant works better for pain relief if needed.
However, you can always seek a second opinion. Unfortunately, I am not in a position to say from here as what is best for your pain but you can always discuss this with your doctor and have the right for a second opinion.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman,
