General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The pain over left side neck radiating towards base of neck may be related to:
- Cervical spondylosis
- Acute muscular dystonia involving anterior or posterior triangle of same side neck
- Shoulder pathology

Definite treatment requires diagnosis with consultant physician, while primary care must be taken with:
- Positional adaptations to avoid sudden jerky movements of neck and shoulder
- Do not sleep on same side of neck down to bed
- Analgesic like Etoricoxib or Tramadol hydrochloride

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
