Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Had ultrasound last year and dr said I have leiomyatous uterus. I also had simple cysts and one complex cyst which I have had no problems whatsoever with any of these findings. No pain or bleeding. I got on OCP s to see if that would prevent more cysts from occurring. Never did get a repeat ultrasound due to insurance costs. I was told to after my annual exam last week to see status of everything. Should I be concerned? I did read in dr notes that size of fibroid was almost like a tennis ball. Wondering why I dont have any pain or anything. On pelvic exam last week dr said uterus was enlarged but didnt feel any mass on exam and year before she did. Confused?
As per my clinical experience, the leiomyomauterus is benign condition affecting uterine musculature which outgrows of its proportion and results in tumor of various size and shape. Though there is no pain or discomfort, one has to decide for the surgery as it grows in size over a period of time and why to wait for further grave consequences? So far as feeling or palpation by Dr is concerned, it varies as it is subjective phenomenon and can`t predict precise outlines as per the reliability of ultrasound report.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
