Under treatement for osmf/leukoplakia on inner cheeks, good results but some spots on tongue. Permanent cure ? i was under treatement for osmf/ leukoplakia for last 1 and half years on my inner cheeks on both sides. i am 24 years old, i used to smoke , drink, chew gutkha and pan/zarda. i ve completely stopped ...
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain Leukoplakia is a Precancerous lesion and occurs due to excessive formation of keratin over mucosal surfaces due to continuous irritation with tobacco and it's products.. But many a times if the habit is completely stopped it tends to get resolved.. So the first thing that you need to do is completely stop taking tobacco.. You can start taking antioxidants like Lycopene and Multivitamin supplements.. As the patches on cheek have resolved it is a good sign and you should continue taking treatment.. In case if the lesion does not resolve over tongue you can get a Biopsy done and if there is no malignant transformation you can get surgical removal of patches done..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
