Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I am having watery loose motion in the morning since last 4 days and when i take Lomotil after motion it gives me relief for 24 hours and then again next morning same watery loose motion, could you please advise the cause and can i continue taking Lomotil and add EntamizoleDS along with.
Loose motions are mostly caused by infection. Therefore antibiotics are needed. Lomotil will prevent frequency of loose motion but will not cure infection. Advice 1. Stop Lomotil 2. Tablet Norflox TZ every 12 hours per oral after meal for 3 days 3. Electral powder – dissolve in 1 liter of water and drink frequently. 4. Eat small, frequent meals to allow the stomach to digest foods gradually 5. Drink 4 – 5 liters of water daily to avoid dehydration 6. Investigation – R/E of stool If above measures do not give relief then go to hospital for further management by intravenous fluids and antibiotics. I hope this information will help you. I will be happy if you ask another question Thanks
