Suggest Treatment For Loss Of Appetite For A 74-year-old Female
Hello, my aunt is 74 years old, in fairly good health, but has recently been experiencing loss appetite and has lost a lot of weight. We have been to many doctors. Are there any specific blood tests I could request had? She s had the basic blood tests done, but I m wondering if there is anything more specific to test for?
Dear Thanks for contacting with your health concern and following approach is advisable in old patient with anorexia:
. In a old patient with anorexia first think of carcinoma of stomach. . Consult a Gasroenterologist for further examination and investigation like: Hb%,blood sugar, S. Bilirubin, Blood urea, X-ray chest, gastrocopy & Ultrasound of abdomen, till then:
. Good food rich in proteins . Regular gradually incresed exercise. . Anabolic steroids and Tonics
PS. Tonics & Injections alone are not going to help gain weight, good food & exercise must accompany the medicines for a substantial gain in weight (if investigation comes normal)
