Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Suggest Treatment For Loss Of Memory And Disorientation
List of symptoms: Loss of memory, garbled speech, disorientation. Patient has had seizures, and thinks her symptoms are seizure related. Dr. s have prescribed seizure med. as well as Xanax. I have previously checked symptoms, online, and found they seem to related to Acute Anxiety Disorder. Wife thinks she is very strong, but I see a lot of anxiety. The thought of admitting to a flaw in her emotional state is abhorrent to her.
Without an examination, I can only give general information. This conflicts with the situation outlined. Loss of memory and disorientation would imply perhaps a lot of serious problems in the brain other than a psychological one. Anemia, urinary tract infection, depression, dementia are all quite common. Furthermore it is not that common for anxiety itself to pop up in middle age or older. CT of the head, blood work, etc.
Then the reason for non-drug therapies is that all the anxiety drugs including the ones outlined are commonly associated with the symptoms you are mentioning.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
