Suggest Treatment For Loss Of Sleep And Restlessness For My 6-year-old Son
Hello,my 6 year old son is having problems with his mouth. It usually occurs during the night causing loss of sleep/restlessness.Kaleb has pain along his entire gumline! There is pain from top to bottom according to him and sometimes with a headache. He is due to see the dentist in November. His last 2 dental exams showed no cavities. Not sure if he should see a dentist or pediatrician.
Your grandson can be sent to see the dentist of the pediatrician, whichever he can access earlier. Both of these medical providers should be able to examine him and determine the cause of his mouth pains.
Meanwhile, he should be encouraged to gently brush his teeth at least twice a day, use mouth wash to clean the gingiva and ease some of the pain. He may also use Ibuprofen 200 mg every 6 hours after food to assist him with the pain. It is advisable to avoid very salty or spicy food and also very hot food and some acidic food such as tomato, oranges, and other citrus fruits and anything that he finds irritating to his mouth.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj General and Family Physician
