Hello, I am a 22 year old healthy female, I do have very low blood pressure sometimes as low as 80/40 and the doc just said to eat tons of salt. I have noticed lately that my resting heart rate drops into the upper 40 s sometime. it is normally 60 s. is this a cause of concern considering I do have a very high daily salt intake

General & Family Physician 's  Response
I have gone through your case and I can understand your concern. Hypotension usually affects young and slim women, however heart rate and blood pressure are very low for you. I would suggest to do some blood works (as complete blood count, electrolytes) and thyroid tests TSH & fT4 level, an ECG also. It's important to eat well, drink enough fluids 6-8 glasses of water or fruit juices, one or two daily caffeinated drinks also will be helpful. Please don't forget to give your valuable feedback and five star rating, to help me assist you in a better way. Click at 'I Find This Answer Helpful too'.
