Suggest Treatment For Low Amniotic Fluid During Pregnancy
Hi doc, I am 6 weeks and 4 days pregnant. I have been spotting for the past weeks. i had an ultrasound today and my doctor told me he is not happy with the amniotic fluid which is less. I could see the baby and the heart and he said the baby is alive. my question is what can i do to increase my amniotic fluid and is this a problem for the baby? My last ultrasound was on thursday when i was 5 weeks and 6 days and doc said the size of the sac looks fine. my hormone levels at 5w6d was progesterone - 22.57 and hcg - 12174. do you think this is a viable pregnancy?
Hello dear,I understand your concern. In my opinion the amniotic fluid is not much concerned at this gestational age.The parameters like crownrump length, fetal pole, yolk sac, cardiac activity and placenta might be important. But as you have spotting the causes for it like any hormonal imbalance like thyroid abnormalities, progesterone insufficiency, any cervical bleeding etc should be ruled out.Avoid physical strain and intercourse.Take rest.Take adequate fluids upto 3 litres per day because dehydration also might lead to less liquor. Also take high protein diet. Best regards...Dr.Srilatha
