Suggest Treatment For Low Grade Fever When Diagnosed With Hypothyroidism

My husband developed a lump on his shin a month ago. A low fever started 3 weeks ago. He has tested negative for many infections, bacterial and some viral. He has been treated for underactive thyroid for years but suddenly has doubled the amount of thyroid hormone in his blood (prescription remains the same). We are concerned that he has a low white cell count, pain in the center of his back just below his waist, and is very fatigued. He is scheduled to see the doctor tomorrow. What other tests should we recommend? The lump on his shin is still there, as well as what looks like bruising on the side of his heel.

Hi,

Low-grade fever along with pain at lower back points to infective etiology involving spine? Koch's? Brucellosis? Lyme disease or malignancy like Multiple Myeloma and is likely unrelated to Hypothyroidism. Go for ESR (fasting) and x-ray Lumbo-sacral spine AP & lateral as initial investigation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
