Suggest Treatment For Low Heart Rate When Suffering From Atrial Fibrillation
My husband has afib and has recently been feeling sluggish. He went to his doctor and they told him his heart rate was low and was causing the sluggish wore out feeling. In other words it was working at about 20% and should be 40%. Anyway he said they were going to put in a fibulator or difibulator not sure which it is. What will this do for him and can he wait a couple weeks to get this done or should it be done right away
Atrial fibrillation per se is not an emergent condition and could be managed medically for quite a while provided the pt is hemodynamically stable...by that i mean the BP PR urine output O2 sat....you are saying that his Pulse rate is low which means that most of the impulses generated from the atria are not being transmitted to ventricle which in my opinion is already a compensatory mechanism of the heart...a defibrillator is required only when there is hemodynamic compromise...so might just be the case with your husband
