Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a low lying placenta. I m 25 weeks and this is my first pregnancy. What precautions can I take or what can I do so it gets better, not worse? I looked up online and the doctor said it can go to a normal position later in the pregnancy.... If that happens, when would that be? What are the treatments for this? What causes this?
Low lying placenta can not change its position at any point of time, throughout the pregnancy period. The following measures will help you: - Avoid vaginal or anal intercourse till birth of the baby - Avoid strenuous activities such as weight lifting - Avoid constipation or urinary retention - Keep the leg end of the bed elevated over support of 2-3 bricks when resting - Avoid smoking if involved to avoid micro circulatory problems in low lying placenta
Remain in regular consultation and follow up with your OBGYN for best pregnancy outcome without possible complications.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
