Suggest Treatment For Low Sugar Level And Dizziness

hi i need some help with my partner basically he is 26 yrs old and has been suffering dizzy spells the last week. he is stood up when it happens and he seem very scared and disorientated. i tried to put this down to either low blood pressure or low sugar levels. i have family that have similar symptoms so aired my views. i have other concerns that im now thinking are highly related. he cannot go a day without a drink, or a few drinks and i have learnt he has been drinking every day since the age of 14. he has a family that rum a pub.bar so it seems normal to him, yet im going out of my mind with worry and im scared that i wont have my partner for that long. it breaks my heart and id be lost without him... truly. he is open about his drinking and has experimented extensively with drugs. over the last month ive tried to keep up with his lifestle and be on par and my body and mind is literally distroyed by it. yet he finds it normal. im seriously worried about these dizzy spells as they are getting more frequent... i question when he eats and grill him a little on his day, however i dont want to come across controlling and drive him away. please can you advise on how i can talk to him.. the reasons for his dizzyness and any further action i can take to help him...

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi

The dizziness is related to his drinking habit and not to his sugar levels. He has developed dependency on the alcohol. Would suggest you to take him to to a Gastroenterologist for Evaluation of his liver and pancreatic condition. There could be some GI bleeding internally which must to taken care of. Self motivation or deAddiction centres can help him, of course with lots of mental and moral support from you.

Do let me know for any additional information anytime.

Take care

Regards
Dr T Shobha Deepak
