Suggest Treatment For Lower Back Pain And Rectal Bleeding

I m having lower back pain that feels like my spine. I didn t have this problem until I came back from 12 days in Nigeria. While there, I got sick from the local food, that had me vomiting and diarrhea for about 5 days. When I came back to the US. I noticed that my stomach although better, I still was having a very soft stool. When I would wipe, I would notice rectal bleeding. Could lower back pain and my irregular stool be related?

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Lower back ache and irregular stools may or may not be related. Vomiting, diarrhea and blood in stools are possibly due to infection. I suggest you to consult your physician for clinical assessment, relevant investigations and thus treatment. I suggest you to consult an orthopedician for clinical assessment, relevant investigations and thus management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
